Barb knits wonderful Totoros (and cardis and such). Isn't he wonderful?
With some junk yarn I am swatching at the minimum count for Fina to figure out the best way to continue the diamond/spider pattern into the triangles between the leaf clusters. Still plugging away at the Yarn Place Fina, which is an elastic, soft, cushy piece of lace fabric now, not just a blob anymore. I am eager to finish so I can get to my next project.
Trying to spin singles at least every other afternoon. There is an hour or so when the sun comes through the windows at a softer angle and I can suddenly see what I'm doing. Peaceful.
Marie tagged me and I didn't get the chance to post it yesterday. 1. What was I doing ten years ago? 1998? Living in Chicago, volunteering in DD's elementary school, wondering why I was having such awful headaches, making a series of beadwork bowls as well as the critters and some jewelry.
2. Five [of the many] things on my to do list yesterday. My nice neighbor and I lopped a giant thistle into orderly sticks on a tarp, rolled it, and filled her garden bin. Nathania's and Sandi's splendid plumber came and fixed lots of things and was cheerful and kind. I spun some more of that bombyx/merino for Claudia's prize basket. I did a pile of bookkeeping. I made chicken stock, curried chicken, baked chicken, grilled lamb, grilled buffalo burgers, washed heaps of lettuce, and baked a non-gluten blueberry coffee cake.
3. What snacks? Scharffenberger 82%, sliced tart apple, leftovers. I love to cook but am not an eater.
4. What are some places I've lived? All over the San Francisco Bay Area, northern Utah, southern Minnesota, NNNW Montana, Chicago, Boston, and Austin.
5. What would I do if I were a billionaire? Pay off my family's mortgages and do what I can for my grandparents, fund a few of my friends' software start-ups, ease the way for some cherished friends who took care of me when I was so ill, contribute to my ocular oncologist's foundation, fund scholarships at DD's summer school, and ... It wouldn't last long!

I enjoyed your meme - especially all the things you've done today! Wow!

I didn't know you lived in Boston.

I didn't know about Boston either! :-)
And I can't believe you're working on a second Fina to figure out what to do with the first one. Now that's attention to detail. (or is it retroactive swatching? ;-)

I LOVE Totoro! He makes me very happy, and the pictures of him capture the mood of the movie.

I loved reading your meme, and you would be so generous... I am so glad you have a window each day of spinning pleasure after all this time dealing with your vision. Can you send me the blueberry coffeecake recipe? Have you developed a gluten-free waffle?
