Mitts for DD. Classic Elite Cotton Bam Boo. Just under 50g for the pair. Cast on with US#2's and knit with US#1's. DD had very specific requirements in terms of fit because she's planning to wear these when doing energy work (she's off to massage college in Portland). The yarn, well, string really, is beautifully made, a cable ply of about 12 very fine 2-plies. However, it wore my hands out and I had to switch back and forth with softer projects to fend off tendinitis in my forearm.
I did a LOT of swatching. The notes about this yarn on Ravelry mentioned "growing" -- sure enough, look at the difference between washed (on the left) and unwashed (on the right). They are now both washed and exactly the same dimensions. And the girl is happy.
She has boxes of lace shawls, a big pile of wool socks, and an assortment of mitts to keep her warm. I'm going to embroider one of her favorite little comic characters on tea towels to mail north, and then maybe knit something for her to wear while doing Tai Chi at the park. Maybe a Merino vest...

Ah! She's leaving home already!? You must be proud and yet scared... Knitting is a good antidote.

Those are lovely gloves. Maybe she'll need an umbrella too up there ;-)

Don't you dare knit an umbrella! Lovely mits, I can see the density from here.

If anyone could knit an umbrella, it would most definitely be you!
